Early Seed Starting

We took some time on a rather lazy weekend and got a few seeds started. We started cabbage, lettuce, peppers, eggplant, and some statice; plants that need good a bit of time before they go into the ground.

Our seeds for the year, and probably some for next year. We also had some great 'help', as you can see :)

We first mixed up the starter soil with some warm water to help with germination:

Then evenly spread the soil across the trays, packing it firm but not too tight:

Then made small dents in each cell, planted a seed in each one, and loosely covered with a sprinkling of the warm, moist soil.

Now they are resting under their lamps in our 'greenhouse'. Can't wait to see the little seedlings!
