Hopefully this weekend will be the last really cold spell for the year and we can get these guys in the ground soon!

Corn!!!!! Super excited to see how this turns out, we have never transplanted corn before!

And a little Frosty and Freida to end the post because they are pretty awesome!

For anyone who is crazy like us and just finds endless amusement watching a chicken drink...here is a video. I apologize for the sideways-ness, it was taken from my phone and I can't figure out any way to flip it.

Sweet, Sweet Springtime!

Spring has arrived in all of its glory! It has been a busy and exciting few days around here. Seedlings are growing like crazy and are ready to be in the ground, if only the weather would cooperate (low of 22 this Saturday!) Brandon plowed a little on Monday, the ground was a little wet so he gave it up for the day and is finishing as I type. Got some new plow points this year, and they seem to be doing a great job. And we now have two new farm friends who joined us yesterday - Frosty and Freida! We can't wait to see what the rest of spring has in store for us.

 Peppers!

Frosty and Freida!

Very first farm fresh egg!

Seedling Update

The seedlings have taken right off and should be ready for transplant before long! We could actually probably go ahead and put some of them out, but the danger of frost and freeze and is not quite past us.

We also got our tomatoes started - going to be a LOT of tomatoes!!!!

And then we got really ambitious and decided to start corn for transplanting! We'll let you know how that one goes ;)

Of course ... none of this would have been possible without Mommy's Little Helper!

In Like A Lion

According to the calendar it's March, but you can't tell it from looking outside! Thankfully we have some little green seedlings popping up to remind us spring is just around the corner, and hopefully March will oblige and go out like a lamb!

Outside right now..

Seedlings! A welcome hint of things to come.
Pictured are lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and statice.

Day 2 After Planting

Monitoring soil temperature to make sure the little guys have a nice warm bed to grow in.

Day 4 After Planting

Day 5 After Planting

Still no word from the peppers and eggplant, but they do tend to be a little late to this particular party. Hopefully they will make their grand entrance soon.
